Orleans to play Opus 40, 8-30-14

OPUS 40
Saturday, August 30th, 2014 – 5 PM
Woodstock/Saugerties NY

After far too many years, Orleans will once again play the gorgeous setting of Opus 40, near our birthplace of Woodstock, NY. Below is the official press release:

Orleans, the legendary rock band and perennial Woodstock favorites, has announced its return to Opus 40 on Saturday, August 30th. Resurrecting a tradition that began over 2 decades ago, Orleans and friends will once again be making music on the bluestone sculpture built by famed artist Harvey Fite. For close to 20 years this annual Labor Day weekend event played to sell-out crowds.
Featuring original members John Hall (guitar & vocals) and Lance Hoppen (bass & vocals) joined by brother Lane Hoppen (keyboards & vocals), Boston native Fly Amero (guitar & vocals) and world-class drummer Charlie Morgan, Orleans will be performing all their classic hits like Still The OneDance With Me, Love Takes Time and Power, along with new songs from their recently released album NO MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE (Fuel Records).
Hall’s tenure with the band he started in 1972 was interrupted in 2006 when he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, serving two terms for New York’s 19th Congressional District. Upon leaving the political arena, John resumed his music career, eventually rejoining Lance in creating a new chapter in Orleans’ storied career. This year’s performance will be a celebration of life in memory of founding member Larry Hoppen, who passed away in 2012.
Throughout the years, the hallmarks of Orleans have been its tight vocal harmonies and inventive instrumental interplay. As the band once again graces the Opus 40 stage, Orleans’ original spirit and integrity are alive and as strong as ever. After playing from coast to coast over the last two years, Orleans is happy to be coming home.
